Use of Your Information by Blue Chilli Car Leasing and by Credit Reference and Fraud Prevention Agencies

When you apply for finance from a credit provider, you must provide us with certain personal information. We will share this information with finance houses, who may then share it with credit reference and fraud prevention agencies. This is necessary to help them decide whether to offer you finance. If you do not provide this information, they may be unable to proceed.

Your information will be used by us and these agencies as follows:

  • They will check records about you and others held by them and by credit reference and fraud prevention agencies – for example, to assess your application for credit and verify your identity to help prevent crime and money laundering.
    Credit reference agencies will place a search footprint on your file that may be visible to other lenders. They will also supply public information (e.g. the electoral register), credit data, and fraud prevention details.
    Fraud prevention agencies will use your data to prevent fraud and money laundering, and to verify identity.

  • If you advise us of a director, spouse, or financial associate, their records may be linked to yours. You must have their consent to disclose their details.
    Credit reference agencies may also create links between individuals’ records. These links remain until you or they file a request for disassociation.

  • If false or inaccurate information is provided, or fraud is suspected or detected, it will be recorded and shared with fraud prevention agencies and other relevant organisations.
    Law enforcement agencies may access this data. If fraud is detected, it could result in refusal of services, finance, or employment.

  • We and other organisations may access and use this data internationally. Any information provided may be retained for up to six years.
    If you decide not to proceed with a finance offer, you have the right to request that any data we hold about you be deleted.

  • We may share your information with motor manufacturers, dealers, and/or delivery companies in order to complete vehicle delivery.

Your data may also be used for other purposes where you have given permission or where required by law. When we use your personal information, we may do so to comply with legal obligations or pursue our legitimate interests – for example:

  • Offering you the most suitable finance products

  • Ensuring our systems function correctly

  • Preventing fraud and ensuring accurate records

We will ensure that the following conditions are met before we process any personal data:

  • The individual has consented to the processing

  • The processing is necessary for the performance of a contract

  • The processing is required by law (excluding contractual obligations)

  • The processing protects the individual’s vital interests

  • The processing is necessary for public functions (e.g. administration of justice)

  • The processing is necessary for our legitimate interests or those of a third party, unless it would unjustifiably prejudice the individual’s rights
